BIO TRIP - Oct 11th. We need volunteers for a bio trip on Saturday, October 11th.  We'll be measuring  riffle/rapid sites in upper Thunder River, and using some randomized sampling procedures to estimate benthic invertebrate populations.  (In other words, counting bugs in the water.)  This will be easy and slow work.  If you're not myopic then bring your reading glasses!  Neoprene gloves recommended (except for the note-takers).  Plan on a fairly long trip - 6 to 8 hours, or until we get too cold.

I'd like to meet at the schoolhouse at 9 a.m., but reply to my address first so I can include your name on the permit request.

Thanks,
Lawrence Ireland

The next work weekend will be October 25 and 26 (the third weekend of the month as usual).

Tasks for October will include:

3)  Measuring water flow down the shaft (in cave work)

4)  Moving the ladder out 6” from the culvert and building a folding or sliding plate to facilitate getting on to and off of the ladder.

5)  Anchor the silo to the pad.

6)  Counter balance system for small hatch (pulley & weight).

7)  U-bolt anchor to large hatch.

8)  Support shaft rope lights on ladder brackets

9)  Continue surface cleanup.

Current participant:  Gerry Gattenby, Rose Griffin, Rick Hines
