Purpose of Trip:bio-inventory
details:
The water level at Thunder Falls was too high to even consider a water trip to DL-7! Water was extremely muddy;no visibility. Decided to try for a fish count between water barrier and the Bellfry. Counted 2 fish at survey marker #C-10 section 4, 1 fish at survey marker before Lunch Room, and 2 fish at survey marker after Lunch Room. All fish that were observed were in pools that had no moving water and were only about 6 to 8 inches deep. Could not tell how they got where they were sighted. All the main stream beds were extremely muddy in color and very high in volume of water. Lots of foam. Traveled from CCC entrance to 1500' marker & back to CCC entrance. Awesome trip! She was very spectacular with the water at such a torrent level! Ready for the next one! Bring me a mission! I'm ready!
CAVERPIG OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Counted 9 carbide cap lamp dumps in the Paradise Passage cutoff
Miscellanous: Found 2 small dry bags with gear in them at lunch room. Noted some trash still needs to be removed from same area. Did not remove the dry bags in the event that they belonged to a survey crew that would be returning in the near future. Desperately need more data on the hydrology of entire cave to help prevent a team getting stuck somewhere in a rapidly rising water situation! Pretty scary huh? Believe it members, it will help keep you alive in Carroll cave!
