1st CCC Meeting

 Issues Discussed

· approximately 88ft from bottom of dig now to top of elevation , last dig air flow 1 1/2 hrs before 1st bat seen coming out - believed to be possibly 6 miles in, why?

· possibility of another cave entrance in question, too many people at last dig prior to dig on 1/24/98 need some sort of organization!!

· protecting land owner (Greg Fry)from liabilities, possible benefit for MCKC once we get new entrance established,

· gating necessary ASAP, cuts down liabilites for land owner protection & conservation of CC & it's ecology system,issue about guys trespassing - who was it??

· Keep Pemberton's informed about CC.

Bill Hays may be representing legal side & liability info-Law firm Attorney for Shook, Hardy & Bacon, his suggestions from a legal side were the following : 1. form committee for keeping trespassers out and away from the area in which work is being done 2. getting a gate up ASAP, somehow surrounding the area were dig is 3.sign stating "keep out" or "no trespassing", possibility of keeping the entrance vertical , form conservation & restoration committee once new entrance & gate are complete ,bylaws, each committee needs input and plan detail for the next meeting, upcoming dig January 24th,

· Randy suggested WEVACS type organization committees, No Trespassing signs for owner?

Following Committees were formed:

1. Gate Committee- responsible for organizing & planning of a gate, Chairman Appointed: Doug Feakes

Gate Committee members also include: Wayne Burnett, Terry DeFraites, Jim Fowler, Peddgie Heinz, Brett Jarrett, Mike Kirch

2. Land Owner Committee- keeping in close contact with Greg Fry & keeping him aware of everything with Carroll Cave, Chairman: Rick Hines, Co-chairman: Greg Buckley

3. CCC Newsletter/ Web Page Committee- responsible for newsletter and web page, Editor: Bill Pfantz,

Co-Editor: Randy Bruegger

4. Scheduling Committee- dates for upcoming digs, sign-ups, releases, Labor Task Force- Rick Hines, Greg Buckley,

Eddie Simmons

5. Cow Committee- responsible for providing info about how to act around cows & how to navigate cows in a pasture

Chairman: Doug Feakes

6. Safety Committee- possible shelter for the digger, safety around during the dig ,reinforcement of dirt bank

Chairman: Steve Dalton

Co-chairman: Randy Bruegger & Tom Howell
