CCC Update
Silo
On Tuesday, 9/18/01, Greg Buckley, Terry DeFraties, Rick Hines, Jeff Page, and
Bill Pfantz dismantled and loaded the last section of the silo.
From the prior email you may know that we moved 4 of 5 sections of the silo to
the dig on 8/26/01. We left the bottom section standing at the original
site at the request of one of the tenets in the owner's building. We later
learned that the owner preferred having it all removed. Also, the bottom
two sections are heavier gauge steel than the top three. The two heavier
sections will be better for a secure building over the new T-Junction entrance
we are constructing.
The last section and some odds and ends were loaded on Terry's trailer and Terry
and I plan to haul it to the Dig on Sunday, 9/23/01.
Compressor
The compressor is still not running well. Terry and I will load it on to
the trailer with the silo parts and take the compressor to Kerry Rowland at
Osage Beach on Sunday. Kerry has volunteered to try to get the compressor
running properly.
Explosives
We are working with Dr. Paul Worsey, director of the Explosives Research Lab at
MU in Rolla. One of several options we are considering is to open the
existing 9-inch hole to approximately 30 inches using explosives placed in to
drilled holes centered on the 9-inch hole. Paul may have a source (cheep
or free) for dynamite that would fit into 1-inch diameter holes.
