Purpose of Trip: Anchor ladders near Thunder Falls; assess rescue, communication, evacuation considerations to DL-7 and on to Lake Room.
details:
We stabilized the horizontal ladder at Thunder Falls; but it needs more work. We also analyzed rigging requirements there. We floated packs most of the way to where we camped (well before Jerry's cairn & DL-7.) Saturday, we went to DL-7 and most of the way to the Lake Room, turning around in time to be back in camp about 12:30 AM. Sunday, we exited. Floating packs & people significantly reduces effort in transit.
Evacuation and communication from the vicinity of DL-7 will be a major operation. Flotation of a litter (or an assisted patient) where possible, if hypothermia can be prevented, would dramatically reduce resources needed. Otherwise, it will be a really major operation.
