Participants: Jamie Euliss, Neal Solomon, Noland Solomon, and Colby Johnson.
Report:
The purpose of this trip was to start establishing a work area just this side of the Water Barrier. On a previous trip, we laid out a path through a sensitive area and hauled most of the cleaning equipment to the site. So when we arrived we were ready to go.
The first thing we did was take a before photo of our project. We then let Jamie and Colby work on some other photos of the area while Noland, Neal and myself started to work with spray bottles and brushes. Pretty soon we learned that the spray bottles were very sensitive to and little particles that might be in the water. They were getting clogged continually. However, they were working on breaking up the dirt quite well. It was time to use the big sprayer. After paying close attention to where the run off was going, we started to really do some significant cleaning with the pack sprayers.
Neal took trips back and forth keeping us in water, he also was our sponge man, soaking up water running off where we didn’t want it. Noland stayed busy with his brush and bottle doing a fantastic job on a formation I assumed was stained brown. We were wrong. The white formation I was using the pack sprayer on came virtually clean in just about two hours work.
We left being very excited about the potential. This, as all areas we pick, will be a work in progress for quite some time.
