Continue Cleaning on formations at the Water Barrier, then go up Thunder River
to Convention Hall for photo trip.
details:
The ones of us that camped Saturday night at the School house got up Sunday
morning around 8 o'clock. We were expecting two more participants to come around
nine or nine thirty that morning. We waited and got our gear ready. It was about
ten when we decided to go to the entrance.
Once in the cave We started toward the Water Barrier. Mike sent us on ahead to
get a quicker start on things. We picked a big once white flow stone that was
just before the spot and to the left of were Eddie's trip had cleaned. We took a
few "before" shots and then started cleaning. It is amazing the amount of stuff
that comes off with just a little elbow grease and water.
The Brushes Mike brought this time worked real well along with scotch pads.
Sponges have there times and uses but are really not durable enough for heavy
scrubbing. We thought next time to try and find bigger brushes and bring
more of them. After a lot of use the brushes wear down to nothing. When we
stopped there was still little places of mud coming off, but some of it is
stained.
After done cleaning and soaking up the excess water on the ground, we took
"after photos." There was a huge difference shown and with more time and brush
heads could come even cleaner. We then headed back to then entrance. Mike exited
the cave and the rest of us went up thunder river in search of convention hall.
Thinking we were looking for a side passage on the right instead of the left we
went past convention hall. Because of the time we had been gone from the
entrance we knew it must have been the side we had seen earlier on the left. All
of us having plans that evening decided to take a few pictures were we were and
turned around to come out not going to convention hall.
When we got out it was nice to see daylight getting out much earlier than usual.
Thanks to all the participants. All and all the work we got done at the Water
Barrier made it a good trip for Resto.
