Saturday Danuser Cave Trip: Tom Aley, Bill Christensen, Chris
Danuser, Bill Gee, Rick Hines, Tom Loraine
Diggers Saturday: John McGuire, Lawrence Ireland
Diggers Sundays: Bill Gee, Eddie Simmons, Aaron White, Tom
Lounsbury, Heather Levy, Ben Miller
Surface Crew (if not previously listed): Matt Goska, Marty Griffin,
Peddgie Heinz, Dave McCool, Rosalie Shaw
Bill Gee and I took Chris Danuser (the landowner of the Backdoor) and three of
his guests (Tom Aley, Tom Loraine and Bill Christensen) on a trip down the
Carroll passage to the Water Barrier and to Thunder Falls. Bill Gee took
Tom Aley a short distance up Thunder River to set activated carbon packets to
establish background data for potential future groundwater tracing from area
sinkholes. Photos from the trip are attached.
While we were on the trip Lawrence and John work on lowering the debris pile in
preparation for pouring concrete for a ladder base and a cable ascender anchor.
Thanks to Peddgie for preparing dinner for the crew. Dave McCool provided
the after dinner entertainment that was a blast and we all danced around the
fire that followed. Dave has assured me that this will be the last
"entertainment" he provides until July since he will be focusing his
efforts on an extravaganza for the first annual breakthrough celebration in
2003.
On Sunday morning the survey crew decided to help with the digging instead of
surveying. Eddie Simmons and Aaron White also arrived to help dig.
As a result of the effort by all the diggers this weekend we are now ready to
pour concrete.
I'll email a notice on the next work weekend as soon as a date is set. Let
me know if you want to work some weekend before the Members Meeting.
Hope to see you at the Semiannual Members Meeting, January 12, 2003, Sunday,
1:00 PM, Camdenton Fire Station. Be there for election of officers,
committee reports and a slideshow.
