I
pulled up to the schoolhouse and Buckley was setting on the steps waiting for
me, so we headed up to the dig where we proceeded to start the leveling
process of the dirt around the pipe. We shoveled and raked and moved dirt all
around for what seemed like days, only to find out it was 10 o'clock, but for
two people, it was going alright. After a lunch break we decided to stop on
the dirt project, which we got about 25% of the area leveled around the pipe,
so we could move the old camping site over to the schoolhouse. We moved the
camp in a couple of loads, leaving only the wooden spool to be moved later and
set camp up behind the schoolhouse.
Shortly,
lots of folks arrived and we then laid out the path for the road in the woods
to access more camping areas, then proceeded to chainsaw a nice little roadway
loop out back.
After
an excellent dinner by the Chef Peddgie, we enjoyed the full moon that filled
the sky.
Sunday
morning after another Chef Peddgie creation of potatoe pancakes, we loaded a
couple vehicles and headed back to the site. Everone grabbed their favorite
tool and we continued to move lots of dirt with lots of breaks and lots of
water as it was very hot, almost 90, then after lunch we concentrated on the
truck ruts out in the pasture, which we got taken care of and Greg Fry said it
looked very good to him. We then said one more hour on the pipe area then we
would call it quits for the weekend. I would estimate we got about 80% of the
leveling and smoothing completed.
I
would like to Thank all the folks for coming out and breaking your backs for
the cause..
