T-Junction Dig

With the help of Paul Worsey and two of his students (Chris and John) and with drilling equipment provided by Danny Schupbach we set and fired two rounds of explosives Sunday.

We received an hour of safety training from Paul Worsey.  

The first blast was at 12:51 PM and the second was at 3:07.  The cycle time to exhaust, remove debris, drill, set charges and blast was 2 hours and 16 minutes.  We moved down an average of 2 feet with each shot.  

We are now 6 feet down from the bottom of the steel tank with 103 feet to the ceiling of the cave.  

We plan to blast three times next Saturday, 10/20/01.  We will start at 10:00.  If you wish to participate call or email me.  Please do not show up unannounced.  Do not drive to the T-Junction unless you are hauling equipment for the dig.  Please park just inside the gate on the county road across from the schoolhouse.
